Cyclone Reef and beyond

Cyclone Reef Is a Five Star Dive Site 15 kilometers south east of Tufi, it is also excellent for snorkeling. The visibility is unbelievable and upon entering the water it gives you a surreal experience, this is one of the world’s top reefs to snorkel on. Beyond this reef we will encounter some fantastic game fishing grounds that will give us some action packed fights, this a unique day that not many people are fortunate enough to experience.
Depart Resort at 10am and spend the next 50 mins cruising out past the colorful reefs of the Solomon Sea. On the way keep a lookout for dolphins, giant manta rays, turtles and schools of pelagic fish. You will start to see a small dot on the horizon starting to appear, this is our destination. Cyclone reef has a very small coral cay island that is surrounded by a pristine atoll. We tie up to our permanent buoy, (so as not to damage the reef) and are then briefed by our local expert on the best parts of the reef to go snorkeling. You will then have a guided tour of this magnificent reef experiencing hundreds of different species of colorful fish, beautiful corals, crystal clear water and fantastic drop offs.

We all then meet back on board for lunch and refreshments, the bar is now open.
After lunch we head out further into the Solomon Sea for a two hour stint of game fishing. We put out four game rigs, we have experienced on numerous occasions to have them all hooked up at once, this is chaotic but fun. We can expect Bill fish, Wahoo, Spanish mackerel, dog tooth tuna, giant Barracuda, giant Trevelly and yellow fin Tuna.
Arrive back at the resort at 4pm P.N.G. time Group to pay cost price for any loss of tackle.

More snorkeling

HOUSE REEF
The Tufi Resort house reef offers the snorkeler a chance to see nudibranchs, seahorses, resident clown fish, pipe fish, moray ells, large schools of colorful fish and a great selection of soft corals. All this at your doorstep, straight off the resort jetty into crystal clear water you can snorkel all the way up into the fjords and explore what this site has to offer.

DONS REEF
This beautiful reef is situated in the calm waters of Amuian Bay which is a ten minute boat ride from the resort jetty. This has only recently been discovered as a perfect snorkel that has calm waters and good visibility all year round with lots of interesting critters to be seen. Great for families. The view is spectacular as you enter the largest Fjord on the coast which offers plenty of fish and beautiful corals.

BLUE RIBBON REEF
This reef is home to the beautiful ribbon eel. This small eel is a magnificent blue color with yellow stripes and lives in small holes in the sand. You will see these eels plus a great selection of reef fish and soft corals, all this in gin clear water and only a ten minute boat ride from the jetty.

PEOPLE & WILDLIFE A great day for trekking, bird watching, butterflies, exploring the Fjords and Rainforest, all round requires about five hours of walking. We have plenty of stops a long the way so as not to make it too strenuous, average fitness level required. OROTOABA VILLAGE TOUR
A great day for trekking, exploring the Fjords and Rainforest, You will also enjoy close up the largest waterfall in the Tufi area cascading down a shear drop off and splashing down 100 meters into a beautiful Fjord. Great snorkeling can be enjoyed at Jebu beach; from the waterfalls you will also enjoy panoramic views of the Fjords the Solomon Sea. . . [more]
